The What: This Week in Southwest Connecticut
The What is your look around southwest Connecticut for the week of December 4.
Monday, December 4
Happy Monday and happy first week of December!
This is going to be the last newsletter of 2023. We’re going to take a few weeks to regroup and take some time away to be with our family and friends over the holidays. We have a couple of great projects in the works that we’re excited to share with you in 2024, including the next few stops in our All Aboard series.
But before we go, we wanted to wrap up the year with a few notable highlights:
- We really increased our deep dive reporting this year, producing more than 25 pieces exploring everything from the impact of trees to air quality, from transit-related issues to affordable housing. See some of our best work from the year.
- Because of that reporting, we’ve doubled our newsletter list to more than 200 subscribers over the past year. We’re going to be investing in some efforts to really grow our list next year, so please share with your friends!
- Our Instagram has seen incredible growth, with more than 770 people following us there—if you’re not already, be sure to check us out! Our video reporting, including on the Norwalk River Valley Trail and the Walk Bridge construction project has helped us gain a lot of visibility on that platform—and we repost a lot of things that are happening around southwest Connecticut.
- Also, speaking of video, our TikTok channel has grown to 570 followers, and we’ve had a few hits including our reporting on I-95 construction that generated more than 34,000 views.
Next year, we’re hoping to expand our deep dive, multimedia pieces and continue to invest in our social media efforts to grow our audience. We’d love to continue to hear from you so please feel free to reach out at coastalconnecticuttimes@gmail.com while we’re on a break and we’ll be back in your inbox on Tuesday, January 2.
