The What: Transportation Updates, Glenbrook Community Center Meeting, and more
The What is your week around southwest Connecticut for the week of Nov. 18.
Monday, November 18
Happy Monday! It’s quite a busy week across southwest Connecticut so let’s get right to it.
Highlights
This section will give a brief overview of the key items in the newsletter.
- Earlier this year, we launched our Getting Around series, which explored why roads across southwest Connecticut are unsafe, and then how communities are responding—through reimagining and reinvesting in their roads.
- Now we have some updates for you on Complete Streets in Norwalk, Vision Zero in Stamford, and more.
- Related to that—there will be two CTDOT I-95 Greenwich Planning & Environment Linkages Study (PEL) Public Information Meetings on November 20 and 21, related to a state project on “improvements for safety and mobility along the I-95 corridor from the New York State line to Exit 7 in Stamford and along U.S. Route 1 within the study limits.”
- In Stamford, residents are invited to a Redevelopment Public Meeting to weigh in on the future of the Glenbrook Community Center on Tuesday, November 19.
Spotlight
This section will feature our main reporting each week.
Across southwest Connecticut, communities have been working to make their local roads safer after some of the deadliest years in the state’s history.
We’ve previously reported on some of these programs and initiatives through our Getting Around series, but we have some updates out of Norwalk, Stamford, Fairfield, and Greenwich.
- Norwalk officially adopted a Complete Streets ordinance.
- Stamford advanced its Vision Zero action plan.
- Fairfield is considering launching its own Vision Zero efforts.
- CTDOT is studying how to make I-95 safer in Greenwich and Stamford.
