Happy Monday! Hope you all enjoyed your Super Bowl Sunday. This week is a busy budget week around southwest Connecticut so we decided to put together a budget guide to help you better understand the budget process and learn how you can get involved.

Every budget process varies slightly by community, so we also included links at the bottom so you can get to every municipality’s budget page and see the specifics.

Stamford

The Parks and Recreation Commission will meet on Wednesday, February 15 at 6:30 p.m. and discuss supporting the Board of Representatives resolution that urges the mayor to fund tree-related initiatives in the city. Norwalk

The budget is the centerpiece of two Norwalk meetings this week. First, the Board of Estimate & Taxation will hear a presentation of the proposed operating budget on Monday, February 13 at 6:30 p.m. Then on Tuesday, February 14, there will be a special meeting of the Common Council to receive a presentation on the proposed budget.

Fairfield

The Town Plan & Zoning Commission will meet on Tuesday, February 14 at 6:30 p.m. to continue its public hearing on the application of Spot On Fairfield, LLC to establish a veterinary hospital including dog boarding and daycare on Post Road. The commission will also discuss extending the prohibition on cannabis retail establishments in town.

Greenwich

The Affordable Housing Trust Board and Advisory Council will meet on Monday, February 13 at 7:30 p.m. to review and discuss pending applications at 220 Pemberwick Ave., 177 Hamilton Ave., 171 Hamilton Ave., 25 Henry Street, and 240 Greenwich Ave.

Darien

In Darien, the Board of Finance will meet on Monday, February 13 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss the budget process. Learn more about how communities around southwest Connecticut manage their budget cycles.

The Board of Finance will hold a special meeting on Monday, February 13 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss the lease and possible updates to it for the Inn at Longshore.
