Westport: Two ARPA Projects Move Forward
Two projects on the town’s plan for American Rescue Plan Act funds

—$200,000 for grants to nonprofit arts organizations in town and $1.3 million to
replace the Burying Hill Beach groin (or jetty)—were officially approved by the
Representative Town Meeting (RTM)
Darien: No to Open Choice; Budget Questions Remain
The Darien Board of Education voted to reject participating in the Open Choice
program, citing concerns about the pandemic’s impacts, financial questions,
class sizes, and more. Superintendent Alan Addley voiced support for the
program, but the board voted it down 5-4.

A new “South Stamford” school for kindergarten through 8th grade students is
part of a new proposed master facilities’ plan for the city’s schools over the
next 10 years. All of the city’s schools “will be touched” in this plan, which
ranges from maintenance work at some schools
Stamford: Exploring West Main Street Bridge Options
What are the options for reconstructing the existing—or building a new—West Main
Street Bridge Project and what are the impacts of each plan? Finding out that
information is the goal of a new proposed resolution of the Board of
