Election Day 2025 in Southwest Connecticut
Explore what's on the ballot across towns in Lower Fairfield County.
While there are no federal or state elections this year, many municipalities in our region are hosting elections this week. This is your chance to vote for your next mayor, Board of Education member, or even on updates to your city’s governing document. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s on the ballot around southwest Connecticut.
Bridgeport
Residents have the opportunity to vote for three members of the Board of Education, two members of city council, city sheriff, and two questions related to the city’s charter.

Stamford
Residents have the opportunity to vote for mayor, town clerk, three members of the Board of Finance, three members of the Board of Education, and two representatives for the Board of Representatives.
Incumbent Democratic Mayor Caroline Simmons is up for re-election. She’s facing off against Republican Nicola Tarzia.
As for the Board of Representatives, residents have the opportunity to vote for two members to represent them by district, for a total of 40 members of the board.

Norwalk
Residents have the opportunity to vote for mayor, Common Council members, four members of the Board of Education, and updates to the city’s charter.
For the first time in a dozen, the city will have a new mayor as Mayor Harry Rilling did not run for re-election. Democrat Barbara Smyth, Republican Vinny Scicchitano, Unaffiliated John Kydes, and Unaffiliated Erik Vitaglione are vying for the city’s top spot.
In addition, residents will vote for five at-large Common Council members and two in-district council members.
There will also be three charter questions on the ballot. The first question includes updating the name of the council, reducing the petition requirements to “facilitate public referendums,” expanding the Board of Estimate and Taxation and updating the budget process, and other items. The second looks to move both the mayor and the Common Council to four-year terms over the next few years, while the third looks to raise compensation for the council.

Fairfield
Residents have the opportunity to vote for three members of the Board of Finance, four members of the Board of Education, five members of the Planning and Zoning Commission, four members of the Zoning Board of Appeals, and four members of the Representative Town Meeting.
In addition, residents will have the opportunity to vote on seven questions related to the town charter, which include allowing the RTM to retain its own legal counsel, making Chief Operating Officer and the General Manager of Water Pollution Control Authority charter positions, meaning that the governing doc spells out their roles and responsibilities, removing legal notice requirements for news papers, and more.

Greenwich
Residents have the opportunity to vote for the First Selectman, a selectman, town clerk, six members of the Board of Estimate and Taxation, five members of the Board of Education, and members of the Representative Town Meeting.
Incumbent Republican Fred Camillo is seeking his fourth term as First Selectmen, and is facing Democrat Anthony Moor.

Darien
Residents have the opportunity to vote for First Selectman, two selectmen, three members of the Board of Finance, two members of the Board of Education, two members of the Planning and Zoning Commission, and members of the Representative Town Meeting.
Incumbent First Selectman Jon Zagrodzky is running for re-election as First Selectman unopposed.
